What's in your iPod?
Listen to this article
If you ask me, I'll tell you nothing--I don't have an iPod. But, I do use iTunes to listen to Podcasts and watch Videocasts on my computer. Unlike the iPod, iTunes fits right in my price range: free. You can buy songs and videos (even episodes of TV shows) at iTunes, but I'll have none of that. Everything I download is free.
Without further ado, here's what's in my "iPod":
- All in the Mind - All In The Mind is Radio National's weekly foray into the mental universe, the mind, brain and behaviour - everything from addiction to artificial intelligence.
- commandN - commandN is a weekly Web video show hosted by Amber MacArthur and Mike Lazazzera.
- Cyberwalker Mondays - Andy Walker appears on The Stafford Show on AM 640 Toronto every Monday @ 6:30PM EST to answer live tech help calls.
- Diggnation [video] - Diggnation is a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories. Hosted by Kevin Rose & Alex Albrecht.
- DigitalLife TV Videocast - By tech fans, for tech fans: product reviews, tech tips, viewer questions, gaming and great guests, all brought to you by Patrick Norton, Robert Heron and the DigitalLife TV crew. We go live every Tuesday, then we encode it in your favorite formats and make it available for download for your video iPod.
- KFI's Tech Guy - No one does a better job of explaining technology, computers, and the Internet than Leo Laporte. This podcast is of his twice weekly three-hour talk show on KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles, minus traffic reports, news, and commercials.
- Lab Rats - A vidcast by Call for Help's Andy Walker and gadget guy Sean Carruthers about how to use advanced features of technology you already own.
- Nerd TV - NerdTV is a new weekly online series from PBS.org technology columnist Robert X. Cringely. NerdTV is essentially Charlie Rose for geeks - a one-hour interview show with a single guest from the world of technology. Guests like Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy or Apple computer inventor Steve Wozniak are household names if your household is nerdy enough, but as historical figures and geniuses in their own right, they have plenty to say to ALL of us. NerdTV is distributed under a Creative Commons license so viewers can legally share the shows with their friends and even edit their own versions.
- OpenAlpha TV - OpenAlpha is a vidcast that focuses on games, technology, and all the fun stuff that can be done with them. Jenn Cutter reviews games, accessories, and tech toys with in-depth tutorials and cool tricks.
- Science Friday - Science Friday, as heard on NPR, is a weekly discussion of the latest news in science, technology, health, and the environment hosted by Ira Flatow. Ira interviews scientists, authors, and policymakers, and listeners can call in and ask questions as well. Hear it each week on NPR stations nationwide -- or online here!
- Security Now! - Steve Gibson, the man who coined the term spyware and created the first anti-spyware program, creator of Spinrite and ShieldsUP, discusses the hot topics in security today with Leo Laporte. Published weekly late Thursday night.
- SETI Science and Skepticism - SETI Institute "Are We Alone?"
- Skepticality - We're tired of pertinent social and science news being buried by clap trap. Our podcast is here to bring you relevant, under reported current events, as well as in-depth discussions from a scientific, critical, skeptical, and humorous point of view. Bringing truth to podcasting, and all who choose to listen. In our travels we will tackle the beasts of pseudoscience; the paranormal, supernatural, ufo / alien encounters, mis-understood history, and overwrought legends - urban or otherwise. Our interview shows feature notable skeptics including; leading astronomy speakers, scientists, philosophy experts, and other scientific, secular, humanist, and skeptical book authors, and critical thinkers.
